Transfer Information

Priority and Renewal Transfer Window for 2024 - 2025 School Year

Priority Parental Choice: January 15th to February 12th, 2024
With Specified Reason: January 15th & Ongoing

Students who live within the GGUSD boundaries and are currently on an intra-district transfer do not need to complete a transfer application unless they are moving levels from elementary to intermediate or intermediate to high schools. If your child is on an intra-district transfer and is progressing from 6th grade to 7th grade or 8th grade to 9th grade, please complete the online transfer application process if you would like your child to attend a school next year that is not his/her home school.

If you reside outside GGUSD boundaries and are requesting an Inter-District Transfer to continue in GGUSD, contact your district of residence and apply for a transfer release. Please be aware that if GGUSD approves your transfer application, you can still continue to attend GGUSD schools even if your home district denies your transfer while you are awaiting an appeal from the Orange County Department of Education. Please contact Garden Grove Unified School District Office of Student Services at (714) 663-6391 if your home district denies your transfer so that we may assist you through the process.

All transfers are subject to space availability at the school selected and applicable regulations. School transportation for any student approved for a school transfer is the responsibility of the student’s parent or guardian.

The Office of Student Services oversees the transfer application process and is located on the third floor of the Garden Grove Unified School District office at 10331 Stanford Avenue in Garden Grove. Contact Student Services at (714) 663-6391 for assistance.
